Mitsui & Co Acquires shares in Zalar Holding



A Japanese group acquires shares in the Zalar Holding . The leader of the Moroccan poultry sector, present throughout the value chain of the sector, welcomes Mitsui & Co in its capital.


A rapprochement operation which is part of the logic of national development and international expansion of Zalar, especially in West Africa. "We are delighted with this partnership, which strengthens the Group's shareholders and consolidates our strategic vision both in Morocco and in Africa," explains Ali Berbich, director and general manager of Zalar Holding.


The Mitsui Group's investment of up to $ 25 million will enable the Holding Company, through a reserved capital increase, to support its medium-term development project.

This vision revolves around strengthening the capacities of Zalar Holding in terms of grain storage, increasing its hatching and breeding capacities in Morocco as well as the deployment of its poultry activity in Senegal. The partnership with Mitsui will also enable the Holding company to generate synergies with the vast portfolio of subsidiaries and partners in the Japanese conglomerate.
