In view of Decree No. 2-04-684 of December 27, 2004 issued for the application of Law No. 49-99 relating to the health protection of poultry farms, to the control of the production and marketing of poultry products, in particular its article 35,
Ministrial Decree
Article 1: The object of this decree is to fix the specific conditions of organic poultry farming methods.
Article 2: Organic farming means poultry products from farming methods that meet the following main criteria:
a- Origin of poultry : Slow growing rustic strains for meat poultry
b- Breeding conditions :
- Clear building, with natural light, of small size [400 square meters (m²) maximum for broiler poultry and 500m² maximum for hen],
- Maximum density in buildings: 8 subjects / m² and 16 Kilograms of live weight (Pv) for broiler poultry and 6 subjects / m² for laying poultry,
- Poultry have access from their feathering to a course of 4 to 15 m² per subject depending on the species of poultry.
c- Feedd : feed must contain at least 95% of raw materials of plant origin including 50% of grains.
Products from Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are not allowed.
d- Prophylaxis and treatments : Apart vaccinations, allopathic treatments are strictly prohibited throughout the duration of the breeding. In case of problems, poultry are treated with Phytotherapy or Homeopathy.
e- Age of sale : Organic meat poultry are raised longer than standard poultry.
Article 3: The coexistence in the same organic and non-organic farm is strictly prohibited.
Article 4: The alternation in the same organic and non-organic farm is not allowed.
Article 5: An organic breeding farm cannot contain more than 1600 m² of buildings.
Article 6: The name "Organic" must appear on the labeling linked to the organic production method for finished poultry products.
Article 7: The choice of products used for cleaning buildings and equipment must favor those having no effect on the environment.
Article 8: Vitamins, minerals and synthetic amino acids are allowed in poultry feed.
Article 9: The criteria for organic farming methods for the main poultry species are defined in the following table:

Article 10: The Director of Livestock is responsible for the application of this decree which will be published in the official bulletin.
